Marvelous day to be out plein air painting at the beach. Found an interesting composition after walking around a bit. I like to explore the site before I settle on a composition. My time spent on archaeological digs have influenced my approach to painting plein air landscapes. With a strong onshore breeze I had to set up the easel/canvas so it wouldn't sail away into the sea oats and sand spurs. Yikes!
Clouds on the run and a mercurial ocean kept me at my easel so I didn't take any breaks.
Note to self: drink H2O. that's why it's in the cooler.
Just about finished the painting. Sun is very bright and bouncing off the early afternoon sand. The beach is lit up like fireworks, clouds have blown away, and it is really, really Hot.
Beautiful day to treasure island living and plein air painting.
